Do you know what makes a quality piece of furniture? It starts with a quality frame.
At Sunrise Seating, we build every one of our furniture frames right here in our shop. We use 3/4" 9-ply birch plywood combined with hardwood, then secure everything with screws and wood glue to create a strong, solid foundation built to last.
We’ve been busy over the past week building frames for some of our upcoming projects, and we thought we’d give you a look at what goes on behind the scenes.
Because what’s on the inside matters just as much as what you see on the outside.

When it comes to furniture, what you don’t see is just as important as what you do.
We build every frame from birchwood & hardwood - a strong, durable wood that’s known for its strength, stability, and resistance to warping.
Why does this matter?
Because the frame is the foundation of your sofa, chair, love seat, or sectional. If the frame is weak, it doesn’t matter how soft the cushions are - it’ll sag, creak, or even break down over time.
Most mass-produced furniture is made with cheap plywood, particle board, or even cardboard hidden under fabric. Ours isn’t.
You’ll never see the frame once the piece is finished, but it’s the reason your furniture will still feel solid and supportive years down the road.

Ever wonder what makes high-quality furniture truly last?
At Sunrise Seating, every piece we build is designed for comfort and durability from the inside out. One of the key features that set our furniture apart is the no-sag springs we install in our frames.
Better Comfort – No-sag springs provide consistent support across the seat, so you never get that “sunken” feeling.
Durability – These heavy-duty springs absorb pressure and movement, helping your furniture hold its shape for years.
Craftsmanship – While many mass-produced pieces cut corners with cheap webbing or minimal support, we take the time to build furniture the right way.
These details may be hidden once the cushions are on, but they make all the difference in how your furniture feels and performs over time.

Worried your new sofa won’t fit through the doorway?
At Sunrise Seating, we build our furniture with real life in mind. Each piece is designed to come apart into manageable sections, making it easy to move through tight doorways, staircases, and hallways. Once inside, it bolts together seamlessly into a solid, long-lasting piece of furniture.
And for even more flexibility, all of our cushions (not pictured) are removable — making moving, cleaning, and rearranging a breeze.
Custom comfort, built to last — and built to actually fit in your home.
